Heavyweight Wrestling Title Belt
The IWGP Heavyweight Wrestling Championship replica belt is NJPW’s flagship title rebuilt by hand in the version you ask for. Choose your plates in zinc SD or zinc CNC. Solid brass is there too when you want the extra weight. Thickness runs anywhere from 2mm up to 8mm. CNC etching holds the IWGP lettering and the lion and globe relief so the detail stays sharp. The finish goes on in standard gold or 24k. Nickel and silver and antique are all available as well. Underneath sits a hand-tooled cowhide straps that measures 50 inches and fits a waist up to 46. A finished belt weighs 7 to 8 lbs. Prices run from $130 to $520 depending on what you pick. Your nameplate is free.

Choose Your Build
Design version. This title has worn several belts since 1987. The V4 arrived in March 2008 and it is the one most buyers picture, so we also build the V4 on its own page. Name the version you want and we build to it. Ask us if you are unsure and we will walk you through what changed between them.
Plate metal. Zinc SD comes from a die-cast mould and fills the detail cleanly at the friendliest price. Zinc CNC machines every plate instead so the edges stay crisper. Brass runs denser than either one and carries the most weight on the waist.
Plate thickness. A 2mm or 4mm build stays light enough to wear through a full show. Step up to 6mm or 8mm when the belt will live in a case and you want more depth on the plates.
Plating. Standard gold lays down an even coat at lower cost. The 24k upgrade warms the tone and lifts the relief so the lion reads better under lighting. Nickel and silver and antique finishes round out the choices.
Customization. Tell us what to change and we build around it. That covers the metal and the thickness and the plating. It also covers enamel shades and strap colour and strap length. Your nameplate is free and we cut logo side plates from your own artwork.
The Story Behind The Belt
Earlier designs are known as the original V1, the V2 Hashimoto belt and the short-lived V3. NJPW established this championship on June 12, 1987 and Antonio Inoki became the first champion after winning that year’s IWGP League tournament. IWGP is short for International Wrestling Grand Prix and that is the promotion’s own governing body. NJPW unified it with the Intercontinental Championship on 4 March 2021 and both belts went out of use that night. In 2026, anyone tracking the current era usually wants the V5 design instead.
Designed For Fans, Collectors, And Champions
This is the belt most people mean when they say IWGP. New Japan fans hang it as the centrepiece of a wall. Collectors build outward from here and add the junior and tag and NEVER titles around it. Gym owners and indie promoters hand it to their own champions because nothing else reads as a top prize quite so fast. Anyone planning to wear it should take 2mm or 4mm zinc. Display buyers tend to go thicker and pick brass for the extra depth. Collectors usually start here and work outward, which is easiest from our full IWGP replica belt collection.
Care And Display Guide
Dust the plates with a dry microfibre cloth and keep polish and sprays and alcohol wipes well away from them. All three strip plating faster than you would expect. Cowhide ages best in stable indoor air so skip the sunny window and keep it clear of radiators and damp rooms. Hang the belt at full length or lay it flat because folding leaves a crease behind the centre plate that never really lifts. Brass deepens in tone over the years as you handle it and a light buff brings the shine straight back.
