Version 4 IWGP Heavyweight Title

The IWGP V4 Heavyweight Championship replica belt is the design most people picture when they think of New Japan gold. We build it by hand once you order. Choose your plates in zinc SD or zinc CNC. Solid brass is there when you want serious weight on the waist. Thickness runs from 2mm up to 8mm. CNC etching cuts the IWGP lettering and the lion and globe relief deep so nothing reads soft. Finish it in standard gold or step up to 24k. Nickel and silver and antique are available as well. The hand-tooled cowhide strap measures 50 inches and fits a waist up to 46. A finished belt weighs 7 to 8 lbs. Prices run from $130 to $520 and the nameplate is free.

Choose Your Build

Which plate metal to pick. Zinc SD comes from a die-cast mould and fills the detail cleanly at the friendliest price. Zinc CNC machines every plate instead so the edges hold sharper. Brass runs denser than either one and carries the most weight on the waist.

Which plate thickness to pick. Order 2mm or 4mm if you plan to wear the belt through a show. Order 6mm or 8mm if it is going into a case, because thicker plates throw deeper shadows under lighting. If you want more depth than 8mm gives, the double stacked version layers the plates further.

Why engraving matters on this design. The V4 carries a busy centre plate, so shallow stamping loses detail fast. CNC etching bites deeper and keeps the lettering and the lion readable from across a room.

Which plating to pick. Standard gold lays down an even coat at the lower price. The 24k upgrade warms the tone and lifts the relief. Nickel and silver and antique finishes are all available too.

What you can customize. You can change the plate metal, the plate thickness and the plating. You can also change enamel shades, strap colour, stitch colour and strap length. Your nameplate is free and we cut logo side plates from artwork you send us.

The Story Behind The Belt

When the V4 arrived. NJPW unveiled the fourth version of the IWGP Heavyweight Championship belt on 7 March 2008. It replaced the second-generation design, which Shinsuke Nakamura had handed to Daichi Hashimoto days earlier in tribute to his father Shinya Hashimoto.

What it replaced. The V4 came in once the title’s split era had closed. NJPW had spent two years with its lineage divided while the third belt circulated outside the promotion, and the new design marked a clean start.

When it went out of use. NJPW retired the V4 on 4 March 2021, when the heavyweight title was unified with the Intercontinental Championship to form the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.

Why it is back. NJPW merged those reigns into the original lineage in 2026 and returned the IWGP Heavyweight Championship to active use with the V4 belt. Collectors tracking the current era should compare it against the V5 design before ordering.

Designed For Fans, Collectors, And Champions

Who buys the V4 replica? This is the design most New Japan fans recognise on sight, which makes it the usual first belt on a display wall. Indie promoters and gym owners pick it as their own top prize for the same reason. Cosplayers and working wrestlers buy it to wear rather than mount, and it is the most ordered belt in our IWGP replica belt collection.

Which build suits which buyer. Order 2mm or 4mm zinc if the belt is going over your shoulder, since a lighter plate sits better across a long night. Order 6mm or 8mm in brass if it is going in a case, because the extra depth photographs are far better.

Care And Display

How to clean the plates. Use a dry microfibre cloth on the plates and nothing stronger. Metal polish, household sprays and alcohol wipes all strip gold plating, and that damage cannot be undone once the plating lifts.

How to store the leather strap. Hang the belt at full length or lay it flat. Folding the strap leaves a permanent crease behind the centre plate. Cowhide also dries near radiators and fades in direct sunlight, so keep the belt clear of both.

What happens to brass over time? Brass plates deepen in tone over the years as you handle them. The patina is normal rather than a fault, and a light buff with a dry cloth brings the original shine back.

What to do if something comes loose. Contact us before trying a repair. Glue and solvents damage plating and leather far faster than the original fault does, and a loose snap or plate is simple for us to put right.

Production, Shipping, And Returns

This is a made to order replica, which means manufacturing starts when your order is confirmed. From that point you are looking at 20 days until it reaches your doorstep. DHL and FedEx handle the delivery leg and your tracking number comes through by email once the belt is on its way. You have 30 days to return it after it arrives.
